Importance of Play at Maker Space May 15, 2019

The importance of play begins in infancy and does not end in early childhood. Children continue to play throughout childhood and develop problem solving skills, show an ability to think flexibly, practice processing their emotions, and face their fears. Older children additionally gain something while they play- they discover their own interests and passions. Please take a minute to observe the photos below from maker space. The children ages 5-9 were engaged in art, engineering, science, and of course play. How often does a 3rd grader get to explore with kinetic sand or a doll house? The kids love to do the projects…… but they are always ready for some free time to explore and PLAY in a safe, nurturing environment. It is really awesome.
